To risk or not to risk?

Your Risk Taking Level: Medium-High

You're not afraid of a little (or a lot) of risk.

In fact, you pretty much live to take chances.

Consequences be damned, you are willing to go for it.

And if it doesn't work out, at least people can't say you didn't try!

Courage is often defined as the act of not being afraid. But on closer scrutiny of the concept, we see that not having fear is to be inhuman. It does look as if our Creator planted the aspect of fear in us so that we will know what to be aware of. Not having fear could end in a person acting out of rashness and facing grim circumstances. The most interesting definition of courage seems to be the feeling of being afraid, but acting anyway in spite of being afraid.

In day to day living, we can exhibit courage in all things. Even in simple things like getting up, in a room or a vehicle, and giving a seat to a person who needs it more requires courage. Often, what prevents a person from doing such civil acts is not an uncaring attitude or the lack of courtesy. It is a lack of courage of not wanting to attract attention in public. There are people among us whose upbringing has made them very shy. Such people need to overcome shyness in order to lead normal lives. This ability to overcome one's own shortcoming is also courage.

When we think deeply about it, we see that courage is one of the factors that make for success in life. Life is about taking risks and about facing the possibility of rejection. A person without courage is almost sure to fail in life.
